Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood Book 1) by J.R. Ward

I’ve had this book for years now and just never got around to reading it. When it comes to vampire books I usually lean towards more of the Young Adult range. I must say though, once I started the book I was hooked. I finished it in a day and downloaded book 2 right away.

Synopsis:

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

My Thoughts:

First off I love the names of the brothers: Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Vishous, Phury and Thorment.  This book is steamy and action packed.  Ward has a way of making you fall in love with these bad boys.  I’ve just started the second book and what I found out about this series is that even though it continues from the last, they introduce new characters and instead of focusing on the main characters from the previous book, it shifts to focus on another character of the brotherhood.  I would definitely recommend this book, maybe not to young adults, but definitely to all you women out there!
