My daughter loves to read!

It’s so amazing to see my 6 (going to be 7 on Sunday) year old loving to read. It was through reading that I discovered that books are a gateway to a whole other world.  My boys absolutely hate reading- I know this, so as long as they do some reading during the week I’m not too hard on them.  I just can’t wait til Te’a is able to read chapter books!  It’s going to be really fun to introduce her to books like The babysitters club, R.L. Stine and Nancy Drew.  But for now we are having so much fun reading books like “Pinkalicious” and “Fancy Nancy”.

My daughter’s birthday is on Sunday and as one of my gifts to her I plan to make a book bag full of some of my favorite books when I was a little girl. Here are some that I think she’ll enjoy as much as I did when I was around her age…

  1. The “If you give a moose a muffin…” and “If you give mouse a cookie…” series are my favorite. I have them for my kids and for me :). There are about 5 of them.

    • Thank you so much. I will definitely look for those. I couldn’t remember too many books from early elementary but there are just those (like the ones I listed) that are unforgettable.

  2. What a great idea – I hope the gift went well! My favourite books to gift to kids around that age are The Balloon Tree by Phoebe Gilman and The Paperbag Princess by Robert Munsch.
