Letting my son go off to explorations for a week.

Today is the day that we drop off my son for a week at Kamehameha for his Explorations program.  I’ve been dreading this day because I’m basically leaving him in the care of people I’ve never met for a week.  A few of his cousins attended explorations a week ago and they absolutely loved it.  Hearing all of the stories that his cousins tell him about their week long adventure has got him really excited.  Kahele used to be a dorm adviser for explorations years ago, so he’s been filling Kuha’o in on all the fun things he’ll be doing like the field trips and Hawaiian studies.  I think the things that have Kuha’o most excited is the buffet meals they get for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with swimming every day!  I’m so excited for him but not so much for me.  I honestly don’t know how I’m going to make it through this week with no communication with him.  I’ll keep you all updated.  Wish me luck!

  1. Awwh, my little girl is 9 and I get anxiety leaving her for a few hours so I completely understand what you’re going through. Not fun for you but I’m sure you’ll have the hugest hug waiting for his return. Try to enjoy the week – he sure will 🙂 Karen xo
