Houston, we have a problem… well at least I do! Since I was a little girl my grandma would always have a dresser full of perfumes and I would wait til she went to work to spritz myself with a “fragrance of the day”. I would do this from such a young age and when I got into high school I had a friend who had a mom that worked at Macy’s and would bring us samples of perfumes, and it was here that my obsession with scent began.
When I was in my early 20’s I worked as an esthetician, most of my time spent working in Waikiki Spas where I was introduced to essential oils and the benefits of certain scents. It is one of my favorite obsessions. It’s so much fun to mix oils and put it in a diffuser. I’ve come up with so many beautiful recipes that I use to create ambience in my home for different times of the year. I’d rather spend my time at the perfume counters sampling perfumes than shopping for clothes. I love how smelling something can cause a shift in mood and even take you back to a moment in life that brings memories.
Over the years I’ve accumulated quite a collection of perfumes… I know there were more than this and a lot was probably thrown out over the years, but for the most part I like to keep my bottles even after they’re empty. It looks like an expensive collection, but a lot of these fragrances are bought in travel sizes, minis and on discount websites where I’m able to buy tester bottles or full bottles at wholesale prices. I think I’ll actually do a separate post on some of the best ways to build your perfume collection on a budget with some of my favorite sites that offer the best deals.
It’s always been a dream of mine to own my own perfume boutique. I think it would be so cool to recommend the best scents for different occasions. Maybe one day I will…
