Black and White Movie Night (week 2)- Psycho

Halloween is just a couple days away.  Psycho is the perfect B&W movie to watch, it’s such a classic.  Everything about this movie is eerie- the long drive, the music and Norman!  Here are some gifs and stills below.

Synopsis:

A Phoenix secretary steals $40,000 from her employer’s client, goes on the run and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother.

Black and White Movie Night (week 1)- The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown

I love watching black and white films. There’s just something so stunning yet simplistic about these films- they just draw me right in.  I love imagining being a part of that era- Old Hollywood.  Without all of the special effects and distraction of color I am totally focused on the actors- it’s a totally different experience than watching films of today.  Many of my friends and family say the hate B&W films- I’m shocked because most of the time I would prefer B&W.  So I thought that it would be a great idea to share a B&W movie a week on this here blog.

My first pick, which I watched last night, is The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown.

But their hearts aren’t really into their work and they decide to let her go. Laurel, worried abut the effect a phoney kidnapping will have on her career, tells them they’ve got to go through with it for real. She points out that in the past, she’s been a party to number of outrageous publicity stunts and, because they abducted her on the eve of the release of her new film, “The Kidnapped Bride,” she tells them her career will collapse unless they make the kidnapping look like it was on the level.

Loving Scandal- & it’s soundtrack!

I’m suffering from a Scandal hangover this morning.  I spent Saturday watching the entire first season and I am hooked!  Last night I started season 2 and didn’t get to bed until about 1:30am-  needed to wake up at 5:30 to get to work- now I’m hear wanting to go home and finish the season.  This show is awesome- great actors, great fashion, suspense that grips me and can I also say that the soundtrack is so good that I actually made a Spotify playlist!  Enjoy

The Leftovers HBO

Synopsis (IMDb):

Revolves around mysterious disappearances, world-wide, and specifically follows a group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton. They must begin to rebuild their lives after the loss of more than 100 people.

My Thoughts:
I’m excited to see the next episode of this show.  The beginning of the pilot episode immediately sucked me in! I had no idea what the show was about, so you can imagine that in the first couple of minutes the scene goes from a mother trying to comfort her crying baby, turning away for a split second and the baby is gone.  She runs out of the car to hear a little boy yelling for his father.  People just disappear out of the blue.  The show picks up years down the road where people have seemed to go a little nutso by the events that have taken place.  I was a little lost and confused of the direction that the show was taking but still can’t wait to watch more.  This show reminds me of the works of M. Night Shyamalan, whose work I love!  Have any of you seen the pilot?  What did you think?

The countdown to my weekend is on!

Yes!  When the clock hits 12:00pm my weekend officially starts!!!!  It’s been a long week and I’m in need of some R&R.  After I grab the kids from school I plan on going home, doing homework, start dinner (stew tonight…yum!), and then getting comfy for a good movie.  I wonder what we’ll watch.  I think I’ll make a special dessert.  I’m getting so excited.  Nothing in this whole world beats having fun with my kids, especially when my nieces sleep over, which they’ve done for the past couple of nights while their daddy is away to the outer island for work and will also do tonight.  To watch them laugh and eavesdrop on their conversations is so entertaining to me.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Divergent Movie

This movie was awesome!  I loved that the cast was made up of terrific actors that were able to keep me engaged throughout the entirety of the movie. I wish the action scenes were more intense, but they were still good. It was sort of like watching Hunger Games and Mortal Instruments, which both I really like, wrapped into one. A must see!!

Just Another Manic Monday

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? Monday came around too fast for me; I just wanted one more day to sleep in. On Saturday my beautiful princess attended an award ceremony at the mall. She, along with other awesome students was recognized at Star Students. To become a star student you must demonstrate all of the 5-R’s; Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Relationships and Resiliency. Some of her cousins also made it to the mall to show their support. Téa is such a sweet girl and cares so much for everyone around her. I am a very proud mommy!

Later on that day we saw the movie Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Not really my kind of flick but the kids enjoyed it a lot. The rest of the weekend was pretty much being lazy and recovering from my trip and work. I woke up today feeling great, until I realized it was back to work for me. LOL! I hope you all have a great Monday.
